International Market Week

April 12, 2012

If you have been wondering where we are and why it’s been a little quiet its due to the frenzied-break-neck-crazy-fun-filled days we are spending preparing for the High Point Furniture Market.

Each Spring and Fall, visitors from around the world come to our little slice of heaven in the South and see some of the best designs of furniture, accessories, lighting and art – i n   t h e   w o r l d.

We consider ourselves very lucky to not only be buyers for this annual show but we also get to work with some really incredible companies to create the displays for their products.  This Spring will no doubt be one of our most exciting markets ever with the addition of several great showroom projects!   Most importantly, we are privileged to continue to work with our many clients who have become our friends over the years.  Lucky us.

Both our inbox and our mailbox have been filled each day with invites to the many great companies who call High Point home each spring and fall.  We can’t wait to see our friends from all over the globe and we hope we will see you there too!

Just a sampling of some of the invitations we received this week!

Spoonflower

November 4, 2011

I know you are thinking….what the…. Spoonflower?  No, it’s not a new hybrid flower or a crazy spoon like a spork but a fabulously fun fabric website where get this…you can design your own fabric!  Not feeling super creative?  You can purchase designs made by others.  The best part?  There is no minimum!  Plus the cost per yard is very reasonable and you can have your design printed on a variety of background fabrics.  Just to warn you not all of the designs submitted by others on there are great.  Some are definite “DON’Ts”  but there are quite a few DOs!!

Here are a few of my favorites:

How cute is this mod orange and white elephant fabric??  It would be so cute in a nursery!

This bird fabric would make cute pillows or even window panels.

This neutral chevron pattern would look fabulous as pillows, window treatments, an upholstered chair or a tote bag!

For fun I took the *mark* from our logo and made a BSD fabric.

This post is not sponsored by Spoonflower.  We just love sharing fun finds with you!!  Barbour Spangle Design can not endorse the quality because we have not ordered from them yet.  But we are tempted to!!

Have you ever ordered from Spoonflower?  Are you tempted to like we are??  Check it out and let us know what you think!!

Mmmmmmm Mustard

December 7, 2010

I’m not sure what it is but I am obsessed with everything Mustard colored this fall.  From handbags to shoes to cardigans to bed linens to upholstery to accessories the color Mustard is warming up both personal and home fashion.  If only I had the budget to buy them ALL! 🙂  Mustard can be beautifully pair with a grays, browns, navy blues and black.  The possibilities are endless.  Here are a few of my Mustard colored favorites:

West Elm’s Gray Tailored Stripe Coverlet and Shams with Mustard on the reverse

Anthropologie’s Take Me Everywhere Wallet

Mod Cloth’s Saucy Saffron Coat

Global View’s Trapunto Magazine Holder-Mustard

Kravet’s Inviting Fabric

Thomas Paul’s Outdoor Seahorse Pillow

What are your favorite colors that have been popping up this fall season??

One very quick and inexpensive way to totally change your space or furniture is to paint.  Paint can turn a boring beige room into a beautiful bright space that you love to relax in or it can turn an old tattered cabinet into a fun accent piece.  Here is a selection of all of our own personal favorite colors:

Anne’s pick:  Sherwin Williams 6006 Black Bean

It is perfect for accents like banister rails, stair runs and window molding for an updated look—it is just the right combo of black and brown!

Christi S’s pick:  Sherwin Williams 6415 Hearts of Palm

It isn’t necessarily a new color but it is the color of my daughter, Madison’s bedroom and I always love hanging out in her room (when it is actually clean and you can see the floor).  It is a very calming and soothing color which helps out with an 11 year old daughter! 🙂

Amber’s pick:  Benjamin Moore 2019-60 Lemon Sorbet

I like it because its light and feminine. It looks nice with creamy whites, wood tones and natural green accents.

Brianne’s pick:  Sherwin Williams 6416 Sassy Green

The name of the color says it all.  It is sassy and that is why I love it!  Bright, colorful and cheery with a little sass!

Christi B’s pick:  Benjamin Moore AC-25 Harbor Gray

In the past people have considered gray as boring or dull but that couldn’t be further from the truth.  A color like this feels fresh and modern.  It’s a perfect neutral for people who are tired of beige and taupe!

What’s your favorite paint color?  Please share!

Friday’s Favorite: Magazine

September 24, 2010

I have a friend we like to call “Scoop”.  She waits by the mailbox for the mailman on days when her [People Magazine] subscription is due for delivery – you can probably guess why we call her Scoop.

Well I have days like that too only it’s not for the latest update on Brangelina or Elin Woods.  I am brimming with excitement to get my hands on our friendly neighbor’s ultimate home magazine:  Canadian House & Home.  Each month when I get my copy I cheat the kids bedtime so I can curl up on the sofa to soak up each and every page – it evokes a blend of Elle Decor,  Domino,  Metropolitan Home and Garden Design.  This month New York designer [Brad Ford] dishes his delights and the recipe section is fantastic too!

Pssst…be sure to try the Mango Salsa Salmon from earlier this summer!
